The Roofers International Union has always worked closely with its management partners, recognizing that labor-management cooperation is the key to developing and maintaining a strong and healthy industry.

This partnership was formalized in 1996, with the formation of the Joint Roofing Industry Labor and Management Committee. The Committee consists of seven contractors and seven union representatives from around the country, providing a diverse pool of ideas and opinions. They meet on a regular basis to address areas of mutual concern, such as safety and health training, recruitment and retention of qualified workers, marketing the union roofing industry, and promoting cooperation between labor and management.

The Committee actively seeks resolutions to industry concerns and issues and has been instrumental in the development of numerous initiatives, such as safety and health training, apprenticeship training, foreman training, and the Roofers and Waterproofers Research and Education Joint Trust Fund.

“Partnership” is the basic philosophy of the Joint Roofing Industry Labor and Management Committee. We are in this industry together, and cooperation by both Labor and Management to achieve the common goals is paramount.
